Airbus Training Center

Airbus has a presence in the Philippines through a joint venture with Cebu Pacific, known as CAE Philippines. This training center, located in Clark, focuses on providing pilot training solutions for both Cebu Pacific and other operators in the region. Airbus/CAE Philippines utilizes state-of-the-art technology, including Airbus A320 and A320 NEO full-flight simulators, to deliver world-class training

Airbus had a standard building design suggested for the facility that was completely without character. The most visible motif for this project came from the idea to have a wing- shaped canopy to emphasize the aviation identity of the building and jazz up a bit what would otherwise only be another nondescript aviation facility.

Mark Molen developed this concept by boldly going where none of us had gone before, creating a much more elegant, daring and slender form than anyone had previouly imagined. The final building proposed became this slick, aerodynamic, streamlined design that I would playfully describe as a "retro-futuristic" blend of mid-century modern architecture and art deco :-).

The program of this building contains three flight simulators, classrooms, reception, cafe area and numerous supporting facilities. One of my roles in this project was to resolve the building layout according to the list of areas and create a BIM model to update the area list and derive the construction documents from it.
